Safety Notice
Effective 1 September 2026 · My Sun Log · Arcane Void LLC
Read this first. My Sun Log reports modelled estimates, not measurements, and it is not medical advice. Sunburn and skin damage can happen sooner than any figure it shows. Use sun protection, watch your own skin, and get out of the sun if it feels hot — whatever the timer says.
The figures are estimates, not measurements
Every number in My Sun Log is computed from published equations applied to the conditions you enter — your location, the time, the sky you describe, what you are wearing. None of it is measured from your body or from a sensor pointed at the sky. Real conditions differ from the ones the model assumes, and a figure that is right for a typical person under typical conditions can be wrong for you today.
Sunburn can happen sooner than the numbers say
A burn-threshold time is an estimate for average skin under the conditions entered. Your own threshold depends on your skin, recent sun exposure, reflection from water, sand or snow, altitude, and factors the app cannot see. Treat every time the app shows as an upper bound you should not approach, not a target to reach. Reddening, warmth or tightness means stop, regardless of the timer.
It is not medical advice
My Sun Log is not a medical device. It does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any condition, and nothing in it substitutes for a qualified clinician. Vitamin D figures are estimates of a general kind, like a calorie count on a menu; they are not a prescription and not a measurement of what your body made or holds. Decisions about your health are yours to make, ideally with a professional who knows your history.
Always protect yourself in the sun
Whatever the app shows, sensible sun protection is your responsibility and your best defence:
- Seek shade, especially in the middle of the day when ultraviolet is strongest.
- Cover up with clothing, a wide-brimmed hat, and sunglasses.
- Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen and reapply it as its label directs.
- Take extra care near water, sand and snow, which reflect ultraviolet back at you.
- Keep babies and young children out of direct strong sun.
Some people need to be more careful
Certain medications and skin products increase sensitivity to the sun, and some medical conditions change how skin responds. Children, fair skin, a history of skin cancer, and a family history of it all raise the stakes. If any of this applies to you, be more cautious than any figure suggests, and speak to a clinician or pharmacist. The app does not know your medication, your history, or your risk.
If you are burned or worried about your skin
If you have a severe burn, blistering, or a new or changing mole or skin lesion, seek advice from a qualified healthcare professional. This notice cannot tell you what to do about your own body.
Using the app safely
My Sun Log is a tool to help you think about the sun, not a substitute for your own judgement or for professional care. Use it as one input among others, keep your own eyes on your own skin, and when the two disagree, believe your skin. Your use of the app is also governed by our Terms of Use, which set out the limits of our liability.
